FAQ

GetDressedGo clients are smart, busy people with all kinds of interests that usually do not include spending a lot of time shopping and getting dressed. They want to look good, they may NEED to look good for whatever work or social activities they do, but they struggle when it’s time to put an outfit together. They often feel like they’re missing something that everyone else knows about clothes, and they are tired of spinning their wheels. They’re frustrated with their efforts, with the money they’ve lost on clothes they never wore, with the times they feel they didn’t understand the assignment, and they want real change. They have a real DESIRE to approach shopping and getting dressed in a healthy, efficient, satisfying way that is authentic to their lives and values.
They are also willing and excited to trust me as an expert! This is a collaborative process for sure, and I never force people to buy anything they don’t really like, but at the same time there is an element of trust in this relationship that’s key if you’re going to get the most value for your investment.
They may hate their clothes and hate their closet, but they are in a place of general acceptance with their current body. I often go really deep with clients in order to coach them successfully and get a wardrobe that really feels right, but I’m not a therapist. I’ve worked with many clients who come to me AFTER a lot of therapy, and that works out great!

I can help you create a wardrobe with a comprehensive color palette that flatters you. Complete, trustworthy color analysis is an art and a business in itself. If a seasonal color palette is important to you, I'll support that in your styling by adhering to a color palette you follow. If you’re looking for an excellent color analyst, I recommend districtcolorstudio.com.

Virtual Styling Sessions and gift certificates are not refundable. If you purchase an in-person package and decide it’s not right for you by the end of the second service, I will refund a pro-rated amount for services not performed, minus a processing fee.

A styling session can be a thoughtful and excellent gift, BUT! Please try to make sure you’re not hurting anyone’s feelings or pushing your own style agenda on someone you love. The happiest recipients are those that have specifically asked for something like this. (Other fine print: **Gift certificates expire 6 months after purchase and are non-refundable.)

So many differences!
I don’t receive any commissions from any brands, and I don’t need to meet a sales quota. This means that I can be very, very honest with every client about what I think they need, and where they should get it. And THAT means that I can be very creative about how to achieve a truly individual style for everyone- it’s wonderful!
I spend a lot of time getting to know my clients as individuals. I always say that anyone can wear a technically great outfit, but in order for them to FEEL great in it, the clothes have to connect somehow to who they really are; what makes them happy; what makes them shine.
And then, there’s my really vast experience working with clothes and dressing people. There’s not an aspect of fashion, retail, design, or construction that I haven’t touched in the 30ish (!) years since I started working. I was raised to love and understand clothes, and I’ve always endeavored to share the joy they bring with along to the people I dress.

I’ve been working with clothes since my very first job as a teenager, dressing mannequins in a thrift store window and auditing the closets of my mother & her friends! I went on to get an MFA in Costume Design, teaching sewing and design to undergraduate students and later moving to New York to work on construction teams in Broadway costume production houses. I spent two years in Paris, working in a boutique selling (and making!) clothes and also working as a dresser backstage at fashion shows. I worked for a major clothing retailer, first selling clothes in stores and then as a technical fit specialist at their headquarters. I was a professional costume designer for 10 years, doing more than 50 productions during that time.
In my mid-thirties, I completely switched gears and started doing support work in Big Law and Finance, which very much informed my understanding of the sartorial needs of senior professionals in those industries. During those years, I styled people as a hobby and began to hone my services and approach to personal styling as a business.
I started GetDressedGo mid-COVID as a challenge for myself: could I pick a name? make a website? get actual clients? Business took off quickly, fueled by everyone’s FOMO and desire to live a more authentic, satisfying life. Fifteen months later, I was able to leave my day job and run GetDressedGo full-time. It’s been thriving ever since, with nearly 150 clients to date.

Nope! I just ask that you only book one for the first time we meet, so that we make sure we’re a good fit before booking multiple virtual styling sessions.

I’d be glad to talk candidly about this. Please book a virtual styling session and just let me know in your booking questionnaire that this is what the session will focus on. Come prepared with questions, and I’ll give very honest answers! You’ll get a recording and transcript of the call, so you don’t have to worry about taking notes.
